However the Ultimate Universe gets an amazing version of this story itвЂ™s in own way that I know I enjoy but also many other people do. I mean, sure the 616 universe is irrevocably messed up after this story. I havenвЂ™t even begun to mention that stories that come out of this tale. HeвЂ™s angry, he has this moral compass that he follows by and itвЂ™s quite respectable. ItвЂ™s a lot like how Spider-Man 2 is, heвЂ™s not a bad guy. I love how Doc Ock gets portrayed in this series. I think if anyone enjoyed Superior Spider-Man and hasnвЂ™t read the clone saga you should. It holds a lot of parallels to Dan SlottвЂ™s Superior Spider-Man run.

One of my favorite parts of this series is the Spider-Man/Doc Ock dynamic that is portrayed. Sure some people donвЂ™t love the costume, but he was a fun addition to the 616 universe. Another thing great about this series is Ben Reilly. The other time this happens itвЂ™s just as wonderful, but weвЂ™re talking about Clone Saga here. Aunt May reveals that she knew all along that Peter was Spider-Man and she always worried about him but loved him never-the-less. The first time is in this issue and itвЂ™s beautiful. Aunt May has talked with Peter about being Spider-Man on 2 occasions in the 616. ItвЂ™s the death of Aunt May, but itвЂ™s also what I believe to be one the most emotional dialogue in a comic. One of the best things about The Clone Saga is Amazing Spider-Man Issue 400. But this is sort of a negative way of looking at the story there are also really wonderful things that happen, like the return of Green Goblin. We find out that Peter is actually the real Peter Parker and that GREEN GOBLIN was behind the whole thing! ItвЂ™s complicated. Peter Parker quits being Spider-Man and gives the mantel to Ben so that Peter can live his life as a father. ThereвЂ™s a boring Carnage story in there for a bit. Eventually it sort of gets revealed that Ben might actually be the real Peter Parker and weвЂ™ve been following the clone for the last couple of issues. However some issues later it appears he didnвЂ™t because heвЂ™s swinging around New York dressed as Spider-Man. Originally there is a story where Peter and Ben meet and it appears that Ben dies in a furnace. The Clone Saga is this story that takes place over the course of many years involving a clone of Peter Parker named Ben Reilly aka The Scarlet Spider. ItвЂ™s long, confusing, sometimes boring, and sort of pointless.

Now, a lot of people donвЂ™t like the clone saga. It wasnвЂ™t until 2008 when I went back and decided to read some old Spider-Man stories like The Clone Saga that I really fell in love with stories about clones. Later on I would discover Back to the future and that stirred my love for time travel. When I was a kid I loved Star Trek and thatвЂ™s what got me super into space. Stories in space, time travel stories, and stories about clones.
